There's something in the air...

When the whole world smells of blossoms, you're either in love – or in Weyher. Because the grapes are in bloom ! The delicate scent envelops us and enchants us every year. This year, it's a little later than usual – the beginning of the year was cool. But this is actually our "normal" continental climate... as it was twenty years ago.

But no matter when the flowers bloom, the bees and bumblebees are thrilled. Every year we receive a visit from a queen , who is placed in the vineyard with a small entourage of worker bees and her hive. Good friends of ours, who are experienced beekeepers, have been responsible for the royal journey for many years. The bees then only have to fall headfirst into the flowers to find their nectar. A life like paradise, indeed! If the bees are full of energy, they can also fly to the chestnut trees that bloom not far from the vineyards. We sell the sweet grape blossom honey and tart chestnut honey in the winegrower's café as soon as it has been harvested and bottled.
But back to the vineyard: The vines aren't bothered by the busy lives of bees. As self-pollinators , they only need a little wind, and reproduction is taken care of. Anyone who wants to experience the fragrance and buzzing firsthand should plan a visit to the Palatinate region now! The flowering period lasts for about two to three weeks, as not all grape varieties bloom at once. Scheurebe and Müller-Thurgau are first, Cabernet Blanc, among others, blooms in the middle, and Riesling and Muscat bring up the rear.

For us, this is the starting signal for the countdown, because it takes exactly 100 days from flowering until the harvest begins. And until then, we're constantly on the move to get the best out of the 2025 vintage: continuous leaf work and targeted plant protection determine our daily routine. By the way: anyone who needs a few days off from (office) life is welcome to enjoy an in-depth wine tasting in our winegrower's café! Here, we'll not only tell you about the highlights of our wines, but also give you some insight into our everyday winemaking life and provide insights into our vineyards.
