The seal “Controlled environmentally friendly viticulture” represents an initiative by winegrowers who have set themselves the goal of preserving the natural biodiversity in their vineyards.
We pay attention to the comprehensive protection of the natural balance under
While simultaneously considering economically justifiable additional costs, the goal is always to produce wines of the highest quality.
In concrete implementation, we rely on three pillars:
- a very targeted and needs-based fertilization
- special soil care through species-rich greening
- the exclusive use of pesticides that are gentle on beneficial organisms
Annual inspections are carried out, which are the basis for the permission,
to bear the seal.

The beginnings of our winery can be traced back to 1788, only under
the name Weidmann, and later through the marriage of Rosa Maria Weidmann under the
Name Count.
Our winery cultivated 16 hectares of vineyards.
Our grapes grow on five classified vineyard sites surrounding our winery. The Weyherer Michelsberg and the Burrweiler Altenforst are among our best sites!
Here we have four soils that offer excellent conditions for our wines:
- slate
- Buntsandstone
- Granite (very rare
in Germany!) - Marl limestone
There we grow, among other things, our award-winning Terroir Riesling .
Five:
- Weyherer Michelsberg
- Burrweiler Altenforst
- Rhodter Rose Garden
- Rhodter Schlossberg
- Edenkoben Castle Ludwigshöhe
All our wines are grown exclusively in the Palatinate wine-growing region.
Cuvée is a mixture of different grape varieties. If I mix various grape varieties from different locations, it is a cuvée. Since the vines can deliver different results depending on the year, a cuvée gives the winemaker greater flexibility. On the other hand, if you only take a single variety from a single location, the yield and taste can vary greatly from one year to the next. A cuvée can therefore compensate for fluctuations in nature. Fun fact: By the way, the most famous cuvée in the world is champagne.
The colorful aluminum capsules help you with orientation (but not always, otherwise it would be too easy :-) ).
So:
- White wines have a green capsule.
- Rosé wines have a pink capsule.
- Red wines have a red capsule.
So far so good. BUT our premium wines have a golden cap (regardless of whether they are white, rosé or red).
AND the particularly tasty sweet wines have an orange colored capsule. Yeah, we know that's not entirely logical. But we don't care. Because, firstly, the orange is great and secondly, these were our first favorite wines when we were really young. We're not that young anymore, but that doesn't matter. There has to be a little nostalgia.
The varieties with the lowest acidity are the Chardonnay and the Pinot Blanc , both of which are oak barrel aged. In general, one can say that Burgundy wines (Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Gris, Late Burgundy, Chardonnay) have less acid, even if they were not allowed to mature in oak barrels. We have a private tip from our own experience: Capsules with healing earth helped us with heartburn (available in every drugstore). Two pieces of it bind the acid very well.
