Our on-site wine tastings show it time and again: many people are afraid of Riesling. "Such sour stuff" is the comment we hear when people dare to tell us their honest opinion. 2019 Vintage

The time before the pandemic (we didn't know what was coming)!

Highlights: Peter Graf named 2nd best young winemaker in Germany. Top 100 - Germany's Best Wine Producers. First Federal Honorary Award for consistently high wine quality, awarded by the DLG. 90 - 92 points for our single-vineyard Rieslings at the international "Best of Riesling" competition.

Flowering: Mid-May

Harvest start: August 29

Weather: warm & dry spring, mild & dry summer, first summery - then cool & damp autumn.

2020 Vintage

Covid – everyone in lockdown – the enjoyable glass of wine calmed our nerves. To compensate, we celebrated the craziest online tastings with you together with “Harte Liebe” – do you remember?

Highlights: Birth of our popular online tastings, first time awarded as "Pioneer of Sustainability" for our Cabernet blanc. Gold rush for our single-vineyard Rieslings in the national DLG competition.

Flowering: greatly delayed, end of May - mid-June

Harvest start: September 3

Weather: warm & dry spring, hot & long summer, warm & dry autumn with a short cold snap in mid-September.

2021 Vintage

Still in lockdown. We wonder if we will ever embrace again and continue to console ourselves with online tastings. But real life is simply better.

Highlights: Award for Best "barrel-aged" Collection and 2x GOLD-extra in the national DLG competition. 92 - 94 points for our single-vineyard Rieslings at the Lagencup Berlin.

Flowering: Mid-June

Harvest start: September 15

Weather: humid & warm spring, wet & moderate summer, cool & slightly rainy autumn.

2022 Vintage

No sooner are we out of the pandemic than the Ukraine war breaks out. Uncertainty grips us all.

Highlights: The world's largest wine app Vivino rated our winery: Top 5% of all wines worldwide & Top 2% of all wines in the Palatinate. Federal Honorary Award for consistently high wine quality, awarded by the DLG.

Flowering: End of May

Harvest start: August 30

Weather: changeable spring, hot & very dry summer, warm & rainy autumn.

2023 Vintage

Due to the war, we are all plunged into an energy crisis together. The result: we blanch at the gas bill, raw materials such as glass bottles become scarce, and we are fighting an inflation that only the oldest among us have ever experienced.

Highlight: Awarded as one of the Top 100 Wine Producers in Germany. 2 stars in the Falstaff wine guide with 90 - 92 point ratings for our single-vineyard Rieslings.

Flowering: Mid-June

Harvest start: September 11

Weather: cool spring, warm & dusty dry summer, cool & humid autumn.

2024 Vintage - freshly born!

Back to a new normal? Artificial intelligence is stirring up a lot of things. And a major frost is battering the delicate blossoms in Germany, so we have to live with a massive crop failure.

Highlights: Federal Honorary Award for the consistently high quality of our wines & GOLD-extra for our "Hidden Champion" Portugieser Weissherbst in the 1-liter bottle. Best "grades" for our single-vineyard Rieslings in Europe's largest wine magazine Wein.plus

2025:

• The next single-vineyard Riesling vintage is slumbering in the cellar and already smells enchanting. In autumn 2026, we will taste the final result of this special vintage and can hardly wait!

• The Schweizerhaus is open until mid-December (warm fireplace fires create a cozy atmosphere!). By the way, it is increasingly booked for nature-oriented company events.

• The Gutsausschank (winery tavern) will open for the last time before the winter break on October 19th. Our tip: Order your favorite wines online for pick-up at the winery! (This saves time for both us and you).

P.S. Do you remember the beginning of the year when “alcohol bashing” was very fashionable? No wine consumption at all was the healthiest, according to many media outlets and self-proclaimed health influencers. Now there is good news for which we are grateful: The WHO has not generally classified wine as harmful, but recommends: Responsible & moderate enjoyment of wine tends to be healthier than no wine consumption at all. (i.e. "enjoyment instead of excess" – exactly our values!).
