When the fireplace crackles, it's red wine time
One of the biggest challenges of our time is shifting focus from the gigantic to the minuscule: From the 3l/Atlas Comet, which is coming from a distant galaxy and traversing our solar system in these weeks, from the Artificial Intelligence revolution that is turning entire industries upside down, from democracies that are alarmingly faltering, to “damn it, where did I put my keys again?” – all of this is exhausting and leaves a grumbling feeling in one's stomach.

Between overwhelm and disinformation, life has felt more strenuous in recent months. What gives us stability?
We believe it's closeness. Human connection. Taste, enjoyment, culture, and sensuality – that's what life is all about, and that's what distinguishes us from machines. Ask AI how it liked the ripe Brie with almond-honey crust. Or if it knows how softly a Beerenauslese glides over the tongue. It will produce lyrical texts. But it hasn't tasted & experienced it with all senses.
That's why, after a brightly shining autumn, we are now walking slowly and with enjoyment through the harvested vineyards and deeply inhaling the light scent of wood fire, leaves, and chestnuts. Because Weyher is a forest village, and with us – of course, with all filters and ecological protection functions – every second household has a fireplace or wood stove. In fact, as "forest residents," we even have the first right of purchase for official tree felling, which maintains the forest.
And while we put our feet up and thoughtfully gaze into the crackling fire, glad for once not to talk about distant galaxies and world politics, we recharge. With people we love, with empathetic conversations and fun games. With a meal that melts in your mouth. And of course, with wines that make us take a deep breath and blissfully pause while our taste buds dance a little jig.
Because red wine is the best wine for evenings by the fireplace, we have put together a tasting package for you:
All our red wines at once, 6 plus 1 – the seventh bottle is free. The package contains:
4 dry red wines, elegant and high quality:
-
2022 Saint Laurent dry
-
2022 Merlot dry
-
2022 Pinot Noir dry
-
2024 Dornfelder dry
3 semi-dry red wines, fruity, easy-drinking, less tannin and therefore not as dry in the mouth:
-
2023 Pinot Noir semi-dry
-
2024 Dornfelder mild
-
2022 Portugieser semi-dry
Small tip: If you are a clear fan of only dry or semi-dry, you'll immediately have a few Christmas gift bottles for friends & family up your sleeve.
Take care of yourselves and don't forget to enjoy yourselves amidst the hustle and bustle of the last two months of the year. We are now going to light our fireplace and make ourselves comfortable with a good bottle of red wine and an exciting novel.

Winemaker's tip: homemade mulled wine always tastes best! Here's how easy it is:
-
Add 1 liter of red wine (Our recommendation: Portugieser red wine semi-dry) to a pot
-
Add 2 cinnamon sticks, 3 dried star anise, and 5 - 7 dried cloves
-
Heat slowly. CAUTION: Do not bring mulled wine to a boil!
-
Add brown cane sugar or honey, according to personal taste (approx. 2 - 4 tablespoons)
-
Slice an orange and add it to the mulled wine
-
Pour into a cup, serve & enjoy!
…. jawohl. Hinweis gefolgt. Spätburgunder trocken vom gräflichen Weingut in Weyher
Schönen Abwnd und viele Grüße von der Ostsee
