Jürgen Graf – Business Economist for Wine, Winemaker & Author at Weingut Graf von Weyher

Jürgen Graf

Jürgen Graf is a wine business graduate and, together with his father
Otmar and brother Peter, runs the family winery Graf von Weyher in
Weyher/Pfalz – with roots going back to 1788. Jürgen is responsible for
sales, marketing, and direct contact with our customers.

As a convinced PiWi pioneer and Riesling enthusiast, Jürgen has been
writing for years about his daily experiences: terroir, grape varieties,
viticulture, sustainability – and the big and small adventures of a
Palatinate winegrower's year. With a twinkle in his eye and without wine jargon.

Jürgen writes about:
· Terroir & soils of the Southern Palatinate (granite, marlstone, sandstone, slate)
· PiWi grape varieties & sustainable viticulture
· The vintner's year – flowering, harvest, bottling
· Riesling – history, taste, vineyards
· Food pairing: wine & cuisine
· Palatinate wine culture & estate tavern

The information comes directly from our Graf von Weyher winery. We
regularly receive attention through awards for our wines
or pioneering work, e.g. on the topic of PiWi. Here is a small excerpt:

  • 1st place "Best of Riesling" – world's best semi-dry Riesling out of over 2,000 wines
  • 5× "Pioneers of Wine" award for Cabernet Blanc
  • Regular DLG Gold at the Federal Wine Awards
  • One of the first three wineries worldwide to cultivate Cabernet Blanc
