A Weißherbst (wine rosé) may only be made from a single red wine variety. In return, it may be subsequently blended with a maximum of 5% red wine (from the same variety, of course). This allows the color to be slightly intensified. At our winery in the beautiful Palatinate region, the Weißherbst (wine rosé) is made from the Portugieser grape.
You don't really care how it's made, it's all about the taste?
Our Portugieser Weißherbst is one of our most popular wines. It's a light drinking partner that goes with anything. You can choose between two versions: dry or mild.
A social gathering with friends, a picnic, a bike ride, a morning pint... There are many occasions for our Schoppen wines. But how do they differ from our gourmet wines? Perhaps it's best compared to a potato: A Schoppen wine is what a good lunch is: delicious and affordable, solidly crafted, uncomplicated, and somehow a guarantee of satisfaction. Our Schoppen wines have the lowest alcohol content (11.5%) in our wine selection and are therefore mostly available in large 1-liter bottles. They're so wonderfully drinkable and fresh that you'll always want to pour yourself a little more...
This is what wine experts say:
" Bright strawberry red; the bouquet reveals the intense aromas of strawberries, red currants, and fresh meadow herbs; on the palate, the intense fruitiness is complemented by a fresh acidity and creamy texture; long-lasting and intense in the overall impression. " DLG Federal Wine Awards, Frankfurt am Main, 05/2024
" Delicate aroma of cherry and red currant. Light (11.5% vol.), crisp, refreshing—just the thing for beautiful summer days outdoors, for example, at a picnic with delicious light snacks. " Dr. Rolf Klein, experienced wine author and former editor-in-chief of the magazine " Weinwelt ."
