We like to call our Riesling a "Drama Queen". Why?

The Riesling vine has a highly sensitive reaction to its environment - and by that, we mean not only the site but actually the rock on which the vineyard rests! Because even if all other parameters (grape variety, vinification, alcohol content, etc.) are identical, the wines taste completely different, depending on the soil or rock on which they were allowed to grow.

But the Drama Queen can do even more! The weather of the season also has a tremendous effect on the taste. In addition, Riesling can age excellently: even over decades, the aroma and the fruity acidity develop positively and enhance the character of the terroir.

At Weingut Graf von Weyher, Riesling accounts for a full 25% of the cultivated area. Particularly unusual (and we're a little proud of it): On our relatively small cultivation area, we have four (!) different types of rock: Bunter Sandstone, Granite, Calcareous Marl, and Slate. This allows us to cultivate four different terroir wines or single-vineyard wines.
