A Weißherbst may only be made from a single red wine variety. In return, it may be cuveéd with a maximum of 5% red wine (from the same variety, of course). This allows the color to be intensified a little later. At our winery in the beautiful Palatinate, the Weißherbst is made from the Portugieser grape.
You don't really care how it's made, it's all about the taste?
Our Portugieser Weißherbst is one of our most popular wines. It is an easy drinking partner that can go with anything. You can choose between two versions: dry or mild.
A social gathering with friends, a picnic, a bike ride, a morning pint... There are many occasions for our Schoppen wines. But how do they differ from the gourmet wines? Perhaps it can best be compared to a potato: A Schoppen wine is what a good lunch is: delicious and inexpensive, solidly crafted, uncomplicated and somehow a guarantee of satisfaction. The Schoppen wines have the lowest alcohol content (11.5%) in our wine range and are therefore mostly available in the large 1l bottle. Because they are so wonderfully drinkable and fresh that you always want to pour a little more...
This is what wine experts say:
" Bright strawberry red; the scent reveals the intense aromas of strawberries, red currants and fresh meadow herbs; on the palate, the intense fruitiness is complemented by a fresh acidity and creamy texture; long-lasting and intense in the overall impression. " DLG Federal Wine Awards, Frankfurt am Main, 05/2024
" Delicate scent of cherry and red currant. Light (11.5% vol.), tangy, refreshing - just the thing for beautiful summer days outdoors, for example at a picnic with delicious, light snacks. " Dr. Rolf Klein, experienced wine author and former editor-in-chief of the magazine " Weinwelt ".
