Our Schiefer Riesling faces south. That means it doesn't get quite as much sun as it does in a south-west location, and that's a good thing. Shale rock consists of hard, impermeable layers in which water does not stay for long. The vine has to be tough, rooted deep and not easily deterred. It is logical that this also affects the grapes. This wine is straightforward and clear, just right for people who know what they want.
